District Attorney Todd Williams will present: “From marijuana to monuments, the death penalty to DACA, a contemporary DA’s dilemma.”

Todd M. Williams, 47, is a North Carolina native. He was born in Winston-Salem, attended UNC-Chapel Hill, and graduated in 1992. After graduation, Todd taught basic literacy skills where he became interested in the law while helping homeless students.

A career public defender, in 2014 Todd defeated a 24-year incumbent and was elected to the office of District Attorney.  Since taking office, Todd has participated in the creation of the Mountain Child Advocacy Center, the Family Justice Center, Veterans’ Treatment Court, Buncombe County’s first expungement clinic, and pre-charge juvenile diversion and post-charge adult diversion programs that are both focussed on enforcing the law outside of the traditional court system. Todd is currently working to streamline docketing procedures through the implementation of e-filing and the creating of the Community Access Portal found at www.BuncombeDA.org.

Todd is a NC State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law.

The luncheon takes place at The Venue, 21 N. Market Street in downtown Asheville. Lunch is free for members and $20 for guests, and no RSVP is required. We have room for 90 people to eat lunch, but the members are always invited to join us for the meeting.
