NC Bar Association Convention Comes to Asheville

Dear Bar members, The North Carolina Bar Association is holding its annual meeting at the Grove Park Inn this weekend, June 22-25.  This brings a number of free events, important legal leaders, and hundreds of additional lawyers to town. Ticket events include the Keynote Addresses by Chief Judge Roger Gregory of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, a Luncheon Keynote by Senator Tom Tillis, and the State of the Judiciary Speech by Chief Justice Mark Martin.  Chief Justice Martin’s address will be the first since the release of the Final Report and Recommendations of the North Carolina Commission on the Administration of Law and Justice (NCCALJ).  Special onsite registration is still available. On the other hand, there are also plenty of free opportunities to socialize and network with lawyers from across the state:
  1. Thursday night June 22 Federal Courthouse Reception hosted by Chief Judge Whitney and local federal district court judges – Federal Courthouse, 5:30 – 7:30pm.  No RSVP needed.
  2. Friday night June 23– All law school receptions at Grove Park Inn,  5:30 – 7:00pm. RSVP to individual school
  3. Friday night June 23– Legal legends of Color Reception at Grove Park Inn's Vanderbilt Terrace, 8:00- 10:30pm. No RSVP for non-conference registrants
  4. Friday night June 23 – YLD  Night on the town at Wedge with EDDIE ROSE & HIGHWAY FORTY, 5 Foundy St - 7:30 until 10:30pm [continuous shuttle sponsored by Van Winkle Law Firm] No RSVP
