Dear Colleagues -
Welcome and thank you for visiting the 28th Judicial District Bar website. The 28th Judicial District Bar, a subdivision of the North Carolina State Bar, is a mandatory Bar for attorneys in Buncombe County. I would like to share with you a few of the benefits that our local Bar provides.
We are very fortunate to live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, in one of the most beautiful and historic places in the country. Our local bar is steeped in great history and a tradition of service to each other and to our community, dating back almost one hundred years. We carry on that tradition today with programs such as low-cost CLE and professional-development programs; numerous networking, mentorship, and referral activities; social events for our members and their families; and pro-bono and community service opportunities.
For our younger members, I encourage you to join the Young Lawyers Division. The YLD committee facilitates networking, camaraderie, and pro bono activities for young lawyers under the age of 37 or within their first five years of practice in North Carolina. Participation in YLD activities is a wonderful way to get to know our community and meet other young professionals.
The 28th Judicial District Bar currently has over 700 members and continues to grow each year. As our membership continues to increase, it becomes more of a challenge to form meaningful relationships with professional colleagues. I highly encourage you to attend our monthly Bar luncheons, to take advantage of our programs, and to get involved with our professional, social, and volunteer activities.
Lastly, I invite you to share your ideas on how we can better serve you. Please feel free to contact me or our always-helpful Bar Administrator, Lisa-Gaye Hall, if you have any questions.
Natalie W. Bacon
2016-17 President, 28th Judicial District Bar
